The Coup Retreat ceremony, which marks the official end of the Republic Day celebrations, will take place tomorrow.The traffic restrictions will be in place from 2:00 pm to 9:30 pm on Sunday, according to a notice, which adds that Vijay Chowk will remain closed to traffic.
No traffic will be allowed on Rafi Marg between Sunehri Masjid Roundabout and Krishi Bhawan Roundabout, past Dara Shikoh Roundabout, Krishna Menon Marg Roundabout and Sunehri Masjid to Vijay Chowk. Traffic will be restricted on Kartavyapath between Vijay Chowk and Hex "C", according to the notice.
Travelers are advised to take alternative routes like Ring Road, Ridge Road, Aurobindo Marg, Madarsa ''T'' Point, Lodhi Road, Sunramanian Bharti Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, Minto Road, etc. .
Buses will deviate from their normal routes from 2:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday to facilitate guest and spectator vehicles and avoid congestion on the roads around the ceremony venues and India Gate, the notice said.
Travelers are advised to make the most of the metro services when planning their trip around New Delhi, it added.
Parking will be available for those who come to see the lighting at Vijay Chowk behind the water channels between Rafi Marg and "C" Hexagon (after 8pm), the notice said.
Motorists are advised to observe traffic rules, follow the instructions of traffic personnel and stay informed through the traffic police Facebook page, Twitter account and traffic police hotline, it added.
