A video of KN Nehru stopping the DMK worker who tried to shake hands with Udhayanidhi and pushing him went viral on social media. Dozens of workers were seen greeting Udhayanidhi at a reception hosted by the party's Salem Eastern District unit during his first visit as state minister on Thursday night. It seems that the DMK ministers undertook to beat the people. A minister was throwing stones a few days ago and another minister is brutalizing people now. Thousands of DMK members had gathered near the Thalaivasal bus station to greet Udhayanidhi, son of Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Party workers prevented one of their members from handing her a shawl, apparently due to the uncontrolled crowd that kept pouring onto the stage. As another worker approached as if to shake hands with the newly enthroned minister, KN Nehru was seen stopping and pushing him on video.
The incident drew instant criticism from opposition parties with BJP state leader K Annamalai saying DMK ministers were committed to beating people.
Posting the video on his Twitter account, Annamalai said in a tweet: "It seems DMK ministers are committed to beating people. One minister was throwing stones a few days ago and another minister is beating people now. All this on a daily basis.. Ask @CMOTamilnadu to provide us with protective gear from now on to keep us safe!" In his tweet, Annamalai had referred to the milk minister, SM Nasar, who lost his temper on January 24, picked up a bundle and threw it at a party employee during his inspection in Tiruvallur district.
