A 29 year old woman in Mumbai was shocked when she received the hotel bill of Approx. 1234.38 Euro from the hotel situated in Dubai. She received this bill in an email, on contacting the hotel chain via telephone she came to know that her passport details were used to make the reservation in hotel from November 27 to December 1.
The woman approached the Mumbai police as she had submitted her passport for UK visa stamping to the private visa facilitation firm in Mumbai. The FIR has been registered at Samta Nagar police station. The Identity theft and misuse of it has been claimed by her in her complaint.
The visa facilitation firm VFS Global refused to comment on the incident. “We can’t comment on individual cases without having access to concrete details,” it said.
