PO Ferries bosses prepare to avoid sanctions after sacking 800 seafarers without notice

786 company employees were fired without consultation on March 17, 2022 P&O Ferries is confident it will avoid a fine for firing nearly 800 seafarers without notice. The annual report of the DP World-owned ferry operator, seen by the PA news agency, said its directors believed an ongoing investigation by the Insolvency Service would not lead to any sanctions.

Some 786 workers at the company were fired without consultation on March 17, 2022, prompting widespread criticism from politicians and unions.
