The body of a woman was found in the water at the Thames & Kennet marina on Saturday morning. A 61-year-old man suspected of murder after the discovery of a woman's body at a marina in Reading has been arrested, Thames Valley police confirmed. Officers were called to the Thames and Kennet Marina shortly after 10:30 a.m. Saturday following reports of a body in the water.
The woman's death is currently being treated as "unexplained" but the force has confirmed that the man, from Caversham, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He is currently in custody.
Detective Inspector Richard Pickering said: "We are in the early stages of this investigation, and although we have made an arrest, I urge the public not to speculate on the circumstances of the woman's death, which is being treated as unexplained at this time.
“There is currently scene monitoring on the scene, and it will be in place for some time while our investigation continues.
"While the death is considered unexplained, we do not believe there is a danger to the local community and we are conducting a full and thorough investigation to determine all the circumstances of this tragic incident."

Thames and Kennet Marina is located on Caversham Lakes, allowing access to both the River Thames and the Kennet and Avon Canal.
Composed mainly of narrow ships and cruise ships, it is surrounded by a nature reserve.
