PC Kevin Markowski, 46, will appear in Lincoln District Magistrates Court on Thursday. A Nottinghamshire police officer has been accused of beating and strangling a mixed-race girl while in custody. PC Kevin Markowski, 46, is due to appear in Lincoln District Magistrates Court on Thursday to answer the charges.
The officer allegedly assaulted and strangled the 16-year-old girl in the back of a police vehicle while she was in custody during an incident in Arnold, Nottingham on August 24, 2022.
The case was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) after a complaint was filed with the police.
Following the watchdog's investigation, the Crown authorized charges against PC Markowski last month.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that the officer had been suspended.
