Rebaz Mohammed was jailed for six years at Southampton Crown Court Dramatic video footage has emerged of an Iraqi man stabbing a university student in a bid to be deported because he had no job or money in the UK. Rebaz Mohammed was jailed for six years at Southampton Crown Court after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place in connection with the attack that occurred in a park in Southampton, Hampshire, in December 2022.
Footage released by the Crown Prosecution Service shows the 28-year-old, who lived in a hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset, talking to the student and then stabbing him before the victim fled with Mohammed in pursuit.
The student was able to escape and was helped by a friend after losing consciousness. The friend called 999 and applied pressure to his injury until help arrived.

According to a Southern Daily Echo report, Mohammed's defense lawyer, Richard Tutt, told the court that his client had arrived in the UK illegally by boat, but now wanted deportation and had to commit a serious enough crime.
Sentencing Mohammed last month, Judge Brian Forster KC said the victim could have been killed in the attack.
An Interior Ministry spokesman would not confirm whether Mohammed would be deported because he was unable to discuss individual cases.
He added: "Criminal aliens who abuse our hospitality by committing crimes will face the full force of the law, including prompt deportation of those eligible."
