Description
Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice are in effect across much of Scotland on Thursday as temperatures dipped below freezing overnight. A yellow warning is in place for snow and ice in the north of Scotland, where temperatures dipped as low as minus 4C in the early hours of Thursday morning. A further yellow snow warning is in place for the Central Belt, Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders, with an additional snow and ice warning for the south-east of the country.
The Met Office advises that some roads and railways are likely to be affected, with longer journey times for road, bus and rail services.
There will also be icy patches on some untreated roads, sidewalks and bike paths, and injuries from slipping and falling on icy surfaces.
Some vehicles and passengers could be stranded with potential rail and air travel delays or cancellations.
Power outages could also be expected in some parts of the country.
