Fourth man arrested for attempted murder of detective in Northern Ireland

Police in Northern Ireland have arrested a fourth person in connection with the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer who was shot multiple times.

Gunmen shot Chief Inspector John Caldwell in front of his young son during an attack on a sports complex in Omagh, County Tyrone, on Wednesday night.

Caldwell ran a short distance and fell to the ground where the assailants continued to fire at him as the children ran in terror to safety, police said.
