Introduction

India'a most busy airport is situated in the capital of the country i.e. Delhi. The IATA code for this airport is DEL. The airport is spread over an area of 5,106 acres. This airport is named after the format prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi. Earlier, Indian Air Force was taking charge of this airport later it was transferred to Airports Authority of India. In 2010 after the inauguration of Terminal 3 this airport became the India's and South Asia's largest aviation hub. 

In 1930 Delhi had one airport known as Safdarjung Airport and it was in service till 1962, But high civilian traffic made this authorities to transfer the civil operations to Palam Airport which was later renamed as IGI Airport.

This airport serves as a major air hub for Indian carriers like Air India, Air India Regional, IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir and Vistara.
