However it has also became a risky mode of travel due to the increasing number of air crashes. These are some of the air crashes which were caused by silly mistakes of pilots and crew staff. These crashes took so many lives by mistakes that could have been easily avoided.

1. PIA Airbus A320 : Karachi- On May 22, 2020, an Airbus A320 owned by Pakistan International Airline crashed on its way to Karachi, the financial capital of Pakistan. 97 people were killed in this disaster. An investigation into the case further revealed that the crash was entirely due to human error. Reports reveal that both pilot and ATC did not follow proper protocol. The pilot showed ignorance in following instructions of Air Traffic Control and lowered the landing gears 10 miles before landing and raised it again 5 miles before landing. The pilots ignored the calls by ATC to abort the landing which caused the engine to be dragged along the runway for several thousand feet which eventually caused its crash.

2. La Milia Flight 2933 : Medilin - was a charter flight of an AvroRJ85 operated by LaMia airlines. On Nov 28, 2016 it crashed near Medilin, Colombia killing 71 of 77 on board. The flight was carrying Brazilian Chapecoense football squad from Bolivia to Medilin for their Finals. The officials report from Colombia's Aerocivil agency revealed that the crash was mainly due to fuel exhaustion due to an inappropriate flight plan by airline. The pilot made a decision error due to which the situation worsened and they failed to declare an emergency after fuel level was critically low. The ATC could not be informed of a priority landing and before anything could be done the plane crashed into a mountain at around 10 am.

3. Comair FLight 5191 : Kentucky- Operated by Comair of USA, Flight 5191 was scheduled from Lexington, Kentucky to Atlanta, Georgia. On August 27, 2006 the flight crashed at the Kentucky airport runway while attempting to take off. The aircraft was assigned the airport's runway 22 for the take off, but used Runway 26 instead. Runway 26 was too short for a safe take off, causing the aircraft to overrun the end of the runway before it could become airborne. It crashed just past the end of the runway, killing all 47 passengers and two of the three crew members.

4. Air India Express Flight 1344 : Kozhikode- On August 7, 2020, it was raining heavily when pilots of the ill-fated Air India Express Boeing 737 plane from Dubai tried to land at the Kozhikode Airport in Kerala, India. The flight was supposed to land on Runway 28, but due to low visibility, the flight landed on the opposite Runway 10, which is said to have had tailwinds due to heavy rains. The tailwind is likely to have increased the speed of the flight and it skidded till the end of the runway, before falling into the valley below and breaking into two.

5. Air India Express Flight 812 : Manglore - On May 22, 2010 a Boeing 737 passenger aircraft crashed at Manglore while landing while coming from Dubai.
