Introduction
On February 24, 2019 Boeing 737-8E9 aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines was attempted hijack. Its destination was Dubai but it made its emergency landing at Chittagong, Bangladesh. There were total of 148 people on board out of which 134 were passengers and 14 were crew members. 1 amount 134 passengers was a hijacker who was killed by the Bangladesh security forces and all other 147 people on board survived the incident.
The hijacker was armed with toy pistol which was noticed by the crew. The plane made an emergency landing on Shah Amanat International Airport. The passengers were evacuated and the hijacker was identified as Polash Ahmed of Narayanganj. The hijacker demanded to talk to his wife and also to Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. After entering the aircraft armed forced asked the hijacker to drop the weapon when he refused they shot him dead.
The finger prints of hijacker were later matched with the criminal database and as case was already filed against him in February 2012. The hijacker was a former husband of an actress and they got divorced in 2018.
